INTRODUCTION:

MatDB is a windows platform program to handle a metallic material database with more than +4700 materials frequently used in engineering.Metallic Material Database with +4700 refs

  • Fast: Material properties are obtained immediately from search filters used as input
  • Easy: User-friendly interface to search materials in database
  • Formatted output: Report with mechanical properties obtained is ready to be used in documentation

INPUTS:

When selecting a new database in MatDB, a list with all materials in the database appears:

matdb2

It is possible to manually navigate through the list in order to find the desired material. Once a material of the list is selected, its properties are displayed in the property tables. In order to ease the search, it is possible to introduce some keywords in the textbox at the top of the window to narrow the list. If more than one keyword is introduced (separated by spaces), the search algorithm looks for those materials satisfying all the criteria simultaneously

OUTPUTS:

  • Stress-strain curve: MatDB computes the stress-strain curve of the material following Ramberg-Osgood formulation. Engineering stress-strain curve, true stress-strain curve and stress – logarithmic plastic strain curve can be obtained. Points of the curves can be written in a plain text “.mat” file to be used in an external application

  • Output Report: It is possible to print out a report of any material object created in the session, to be appended to other documents or simply to manage the data more easily. The report is a self-containing “.docx” file that summarizes the material information, includying an image of the currently printed stress-strain curve.
