INTRODUCTION:

BESTA (BEnding Stress Analysis) is a software tool to obtain the ultimate moment for metallic sections. It also calculates the Reserve Factor for sections subjected to axial and bending stress. This free version is limited to 6 points-section analysis

INPUTS:

Required input for BESTA are the geometry points defining the section, the material curve defined by points and the applied loads.

OUTPUTS:

Outputs obtained with BESTA are:besta4_1besta4

  1. Total section area
  2. Inertia moments around the principal axes parallel to X axis and Y axis
  3. X and Y coordinates of the Centre of gravity (c.o.g) of the section.
  4. Y coordinate of neutral fiber
  5. Ultimate Moment of the section.
  6. Bending Ultimate Strength ( FBu)
  7. Reserve Factor (RF) for the applied Moment and Axial load
  8. Strain and stress distribution along section height
